"A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step."- Lao Tzu
Ok, so...I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing when it comes to blogging! However, a good friend of mine has recently, or semi-recently, become quite the little "blogger" and I feel the need to indulge myself as well.
To begin with, I am an English major. Thus, writing has always been sort of a pastime of mine that has recently managed to fade into the background because of my hectic schedule and the fact that I have graduated college.
As a child, I always kept a diary or journal. All throughout middle school I had a journal every year that I filled from front to back with my thoughts and ideas. Mainly the pages contained gossip about what boys I liked and who was "dating" who. Nonetheless, it was a very big part of my life. I continued this daily writing process into my ninth grade year. However, it was at this time that some very malicious boys that were apparently quite interested in me thought it would be a great idea to steal my journal and read it aloud at a party one night! As I am sure is apparent, my journal writing days then came to a screeching halt!
After a couple of years of not writing at all I needed, again, to be able to vent my frustrations, hopes, dreams, aspirations, and emotions, in general, on paper. So, I started something like a random, anonymous journal of sorts. I was still able to write about things that were important to me; although, this time I chose not to include names, and I wrote the entries on random pages and in no particular order. This way, the journal was not chronological, and if someone got their hands on it it wouldn't be apparent as to who or what I was referencing. I only used this "random" journal for very important entries, such as times when I was extremely excited, angry, or passionate about a particular subject.
Now, however, journals and snail mail are no longer the norm. Pen pals have been replaced by internet chat and social networks, and blogging is now, apparently, the mode of the times for those of us who need to vent. I have decided, henceforth, to give it a whirl. The problem with this is that I have no idea how to personalize my blog so that it will reflect my personality and my style. For instance, how do I utilize the cutesy fonts I've noticed on my friend's page? How do I add pictures to my blog title? How can I make this interesting and make people actually WANT to read it? Clearly, I need help! So...if you're out there and you can hear me...HELP!!! :)
